Turn Your Pain Into Power

Transformation is very personal to me. My life 4 and a half years ago looked very different to how it does now. It was a random moment in time, but in seconds my life had changed. I’d gone from living a very fast paced and active lifestyle, to being completely bedridden and unable to move.

At the time, I was working in the corporate world as a Marketing Director by day and fitness instructor by night. It was just another regular day at the office, when a freak back injury left me immobile.. I went to take a seat at my desk one morning, when all of a sudden I felt an excruciating pain shoot through my lower back and legs. I fell to the floor in agonising pain. I remember co-workers rushing to help me and then being taken away in an ambulance. The next 9-12 months were some of the hardest of my life. I can’t begin to tell you how long, slow and painful those months were. I tried everything. Specialist doctors, chiropractors, osteopaths and physiotherapists. Nothing worked. The despair and lack of hope led me to fall into a deep depression. Days would pass me by. Isolated and in pain, I lost the will to carry on. I could not believe that this was it for me. I did not want to accept it. I could not accept it.

Whilst bedridden, I had nothing to do but read, and listen to music. I read a lot. I sought recommendations on what else I could try. After many painful months of nothing working, I decided to try resistance training as a way to rebuild and strengthen my back. It pushed me to not just strengthen my body, but to strengthen my mind. It was not easy. Some days I could not get out of bed. The pain was unbearable. At the beginning, I used crutches to make my way to the local gym. Walking without support was too painful, and often just not possible. The struggle was both physical and mental. Yet I wanted so badly to build a better, happier life again., so I just kept going. It took months and months but slowly, I noticed progressions. I knew that every rep was making a difference. I could walk a little further unassisted. I could hold myself up in a seated position for a little bit longer. It gave me confidence. My depression started to lift. I felt more confident as I grew stronger and was filled with hope and inspiration to keep pushing on.

Skip forward to today. I am a full-time health & fitness coach on a mission to leverage my passion, experience and expertise to transform how people look & feel about themselves. Fitness is transformative. I’m talking from experience. I understand the highs and the lows of the journey. I know what it feels like to go through a body transformation. I know how it feels to not be motivated and to lose hope. It’s not about the squats, the lunges or the push-ups. It’s about the power of fitness to empower people to build a better life. It’s about building your confidence and self-esteem. I know what it takes. I understand the courage it takes to change your life and to unlock your inner strength. I’m here to empower people to live a fitter, healthier, and more fulfilled life, and I’m just getting started!
